DYNAMIC LIFE RECOVERY SYSTEM (DLRS)

DLRS is a powerful and effective system of rehabilitation, designed specifically for patients who have undergone anterior approach spinal surgery

The program was evolved above and beyond the boundaries of conventional physiotherapeutic treatments. It has proven its value in both the extensive research undertaken by the medical and health experts and its practical application on more than 5000 patients to date.

The program itself involves a progressive plan of exercise, combined with specific techniques and methods, which are designed to consolidate improvement in every level. It works to strengthen the everyday functions of the body, improves postural muscles, integrates stability, and takes you through the surgical journey, explaining the detail and demystifying the process, along the way. DLRS offers new hope and the more beneficial recovery for patients who have made decision to undergo surgery and, as a result, improve their lives in every way.

Our patient support program covers all stages of the medical process at New Delhi Spine, from the moment of first contact until the patient is fully recovered. The goal is to ensure the best possible experience.

BEFORE SURGERY

there’s a simple little proverb that paraphrased says, ‘ the more you put into something, the more you’ll get back’.

Important tasks to practice before hospital to prepare you for the recovery from Surgery.

Walking : Although your ability to exercise may have been restricted by pain prior to surgery, the smallest effort carried out regularly, can make a major difference. Exercise choices can include walking, swimming or any activity you are able to undertake with confidence.

A good walk, for instance, can be spread over a day and split into four, 10-15 minute walks, as opposed to a one-off, 40-minute power sprint. Choosing a non weight bearing exercise like swimming may be an easier option.

The Deep Breath : It seems Obvious that you would know how to take a deep breath, however this may become more difficult after surgery. breathe in through your nose and all through your mouth. make a point of trying to get the air down to the base of the ribs. practice. only do 4 at a time.

Coughing: to prevent pain to your incision when coughing following.

Constipation after surgery : If left unattended can lead to a painful experience and is not uncommon when recovering from anterior spinal surgery. Anaesthesia, stress, dietary changes, after – effects of surgery through the abdomen, pain medications and a general decrease in activity can all slowdown bowel movements

Correct toilet position: Squatting puts bowel in the right position allowing it to empty more easily and completely. do not slump or strain. Food that helps prevent constipation eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables 2 L of water per day ( 8 cups )

DURING SURGERY

The operation itself is usually the moment that most often worries patients, but thanks to the pre-treatment preparation we offer, the patient arrives at this stage feeling empowered, both physically and emotionally. During the operation, we seek to ensure that this continues and that the patient feels calm and involved

To achieve this, we follow an itinerary of steps that includes the patient entering the operating room autonomously (whenever possible), accompaniment before anesthesia and after surgery, and detailed information on discharge and medication, as well as the beginning of rehabilitation at 6-12 hours after surgery.

AFTER SURGERY

After the operation, the recovery phase starts, which most patients are eager to begin, but have doubts about what the process will be once they leave the hospital. At New Delhi Spine we encourage the patient to take an active role in their recovery, since this has a highly positive effect on the outcome.

We arrange this through several different actions, from regular visits during your hospital stay, to providing information on the necessary materials and the guidelines that you will need to follow during your recovery at home. In addition, we schedule a post-surgical follow-up appointment, and provide information on the timing of periodic follow-ups and the possibility of making remote consultations when necessary.

PREVENTION AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

In order to get the best possible results from the surgery, it is essential that the patient follow healthy habits during their recovery, and after, so they can return to normal daily life, and in addition, prevent possible future problems. Our medical team offers detailed and fully personalized guidelines that the patient can apply to their daily life: postural hygiene, specific exercises, physical activity, rest and diet, among others.
